E156: The Chicago International Film Festival and Also Halloween Stuff Episode

This week the spooky boys visited The Windy (more like RAINY) City for the 53rd Chicago International Film Festival! We were in town just long enough to catch and review two brand new films from acclaimed Japanese horror directors for you. First we live out our nightmare of becoming immortal with Takashi Miike's Blade of the Immortal (2017). Next, we strap in for the insanity we've come to expect from Sion Sono with his latest film Tokyo Vampire Hotel (2017). Lastly, we discuss our top picks for "Halloween-y" horror films to watch with casual and hardcore horror fans alike.

E155: The TV Anthology Episode

This week the Spooky Boys get their binge on and check out 2 episodes each from 4 different horror anthology TV series. First we take a deep dive into the pool of 90's nostalgia with Are You Afraid of the Dark (1990-200). Next, we take a peek at Romero's world not-so-brightly-lit, Tales from the Darkside (1983-1988).  An amazingly bad CG intro gets us in the mood for Amazing Stories (1985-1987). Finally, we see what the horror "masters" can do with an anthology in Masters of Horror (2005-2007).

E153: The IT Episode

This week, in an episode almost as long as these movies, the Spooky Boys clown around and tackle both adaptations of Stephen King's It. First we take a two-pronged approach and tackle the 3 hour behemoth that is It (1990). Afterwards, we discuss the subjectivity of "scares", drive-in theaters and more with our review of It (2017).

E152: The Devon Birthday Boy Episode, Year II

In the last birthday episode of the year, the Spooky Boys get together to celebrate one more year of Devon. Each of the cast members chose one film to "gift" Devon, whether he wanted it or not. First, we all wish we were dead during Blootster's pick, Alive (2002). Next, Manton brings us Hausu for people who are not insane in the form of Sweet Home (1989). Finally, Dylan goes for an easy win with the action-packed Headshot (2016). Will Devon love his gifts or will he throw them back in our faces?

E150: The Days of the Dead Episode: Live!

This week the spooky boys bring you their first episode recorded with a live audience! The Horrorble crew was asked to do a live episode for the Days of the Dead convention in Louisville, Kentucky last weekend and we were more than happy to oblige. In this episode we discuss three of our favorite hidden gems previously reviewed for the podcast. Dylan brings us an 80's era cross of Final Destination and It Follows in the form of Sole Survivor (1983). Next, Devon gives us our favorite Evil Dead movie that has nothing to do with Evil Dead: Evil Dead Trap (1988). Finally, Blootster unearths one of our earliest pleasant surprises, The Canal (2014).

Huge thanks to everyone who came out to see us and those of you who cheered for us over the 'net. See you all at the next con!

E149: The Manton Birthday Boy Episode, Year II

This week the boys get together to celebrate the birthday of the unanimous best boy on the cast, Manton! Devon, Blootster and Dylan have each selected a film to honor their superior cast-mate. Brandon brings us a film about some glowing octopuses and relationship drama in the form of Monsters (2010). We witness and unprecedented amount of green screen and monster-boys in Dylan's pick, The Boy From Hell (2004). Finally, we end the episode drinking up green alien barf from a bowl, courtesy of Devon's pick, Bad Taste (1987).

E148: The Train Episode

Truly there is no more terrifying sound than "Choo Choo", and we've got three frightening films for you to prove it. First, Jamie Lee Curtis watches 30 minutes of David Copperfield magic shows in real time on the Terror Train (1980). Next, we see Bradley Cooper eat his girlfriend's butt and people get killed horrifically in Midnight Meat Train (2008). Finally, things get back on the rails and we check out one of the most notable zombie flicks in a long time, Train to Busan (2016).

E147: The Cage on the Fringe Episode

Finally, the long awaited spiritual successor to the beloved Bacon on the Fringe Episode is here! This week we'll be taking a look at three "fringe horror" films featuring Hollywood's favorite miscast actor, Nicolas Cage. First, we go deep into boredom-debt when we try to Pay The Ghost (2015). Next, we get lost in the (somehow) lesser known insanity that is Vampire's Kiss (1988). Finally, Rachel finishes her wine and trails off like a flaming motorcycle in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011).

E145: The Japanese Episode II

The whole Horrorble crew is finally back together for the long awaited sequel to the Japanese Episode! This week Devon phones in his performance directly from Japan and we take a look at three films from some familiar Japanese directors. First we'll follow Noroi director Kōji Shiraishi as himself investigating a bizarre stabbing in the mockumentary Occult (2009). From the director of The Grudge, Takashi Shimizu, we enter a hollow earth and watch some androids crawl around in Marebito (2004). Lastly, we play in hell with Sion Sono of Exte fame, in the aptly titled Why Don't You Play in Hell? (2013).

E144: The Just the Two of Us Episode: Vol. 2

With Devon still out of town and Blootster taking his turn to leave the city this week, Manton and Dylan take a stab at another two-boy episode. The boys get black out drunk and turn into giant kaiju monsters while reviewing Colossal (2016). We take advantage of another Devon-less week to watch another old ass movie in the form of Cat People (1942). Finally, we xamine an xtra special xtraterrestrial alien flick called Xtro (1982).

E143: The Just the Two of Us Episode

This week Dylan and Devon are out of town and the Spooky Boys are down to two. Manton and Blootster sit down for a relaxed episode of brotherly love and discussion on three films. We discuss the merits of horror and the size of Arnold's hog in The Terminator (1984). We talk about tiny miniature people and face value reviews with Bride of Frankenstein (1935). Finally, we talk googly-eyed monsters and bureaucracy in Shin Godzilla (2016).

E141: The Child's Play Episode

This week the spooky boys took a step back and thought about what subgenres of horror we may be looking over and saw one glaring hole: The "serial killer inhabits the body of a doll while cursing and murdering" subgenre! Chucky and Blootster just want to hug in Child's Play (1988). Chucky fills us in on which nu-metal band to throw down the horns to in Bride of Chucky (1998). Lastly, people are somehow still fooled by Chucky 25 years later in Curse of Chucky (2013).

E140: The Hotel Episode

Nothing's better than a night's sleep in a hotel bed right? That is, of course, unless you sleep there after the spooky boys. This week we take a look at three films heavily featuring Hotels, Motels and Holiday Inn's. We sit down to watch gruesome snuff tapes with our favorite Wilson in Vacancy (2007). We take a reflective stay in the oft-mentioned-but-not-yet-reviewed The Inkeepers (2011). Lastly, we are blown away to learn that Psycho III exists after sitting down with Psycho II (1983).

E139: The Disney Episode

When you think about Disney movies, you most likely think of the classics, like The Pacifier with Vin Diesel. However, Disney did some experimenting in long-titled horror films and this week the spooky boys will dive head first into three of them. Lazer beams blast at us from trees in Watcher in the Woods (1980). We give our full, unfiltered opinions on old dads during Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983). Finally, we fit every space-movie reference and butthole joke possible inside of The Black Hole (1979).

E137: The Dylan Birthday Boy Episode, Year II

This week the spooky boys come together to celebrate the birthday of the dadliest member of the Horrorble Podcast: Dylan! Each of the other three boys chose a movie they found relevant to his interests(maybe). We break a few eggs while trying to figure out the meaning of Blootster's pick, Funny Games (2007). We watch a film based on Dylan's real life tummy problems in Manton's pick, Bad Milo! (2013). Finally, Devon brings it all back together with his pick Under the Shadow (2016).
